Read Revelation 2 Jesus Letters to the Churches

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death. (Revelation 2:11 NKJV)

John addresses the letters to the seven churches. The Spirit has something to say through every one of the churches. Here the letter is addressed to the church in Smyrna. The believers were facing persecution and poverty.

It is listening in the spirit and seeing it in Gods perspective. But as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. (I Corinthians 2:9-10)

Jesus makes this promise to those who overcome. We overcome by our close association with Jesus, who is the ultimate overcomer. These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. (John 16:33).

They will never be hurt by the second death. The second death is hell, the lake of fire Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. (Revelation 20:14) But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. (Revelation 21:8) Though Satan has threatened and attacked their life, Jesus promises His over-comers that death is conquered for them.

Prayer: Lord You are always speaking. I am Your sheep and thus I am able to hear when You speak. Let it be in the time of persecution, trials and testing that I may be receptive to what You are saying to me regarding Christ,
