About This Series

After Jesus' 20-month ministry to pious, patriotic Jews in Galilee (JM Part 3), He spends 4 months in ministry to Gentiles around Galilee.

He then marches straight to the most paganized spot in the whole region: Caesarea Philippi. There, surrounded by the worst of pagan idolatry, Peter confesses Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the Living God.

Now that His true identity has been revealed, Jesus immediately predicts His cross and resurrection. He is a Messiah unlike any they imagined.

Then on Mount Hermon—in the very place where the false gods (angelic watchers) mated with the beautiful daughters of men (Gen 6)—Jesus reveals His divine glory. The one true God, wrapped in human flesh, defeats all false deities, through His Cross!

J-Mentors explores the historical and cultural background to these well-known passages, opening up new insights about Jesus. Contemplating Jesus in His first-century contexts helps us better know Him and serve Him in our own contexts today.
