Read Revelation 3 Jesus Letters to the Churches

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. (Revelation 3:20 NKJV)

This is the letter to the last church, Laodicea. An age of apostasy with many turning away from the faith. Even in the churches are rich outwardly but not experiencing the power of God. Rebuke and chastisement are no signs of rejection from Christ, but of His abiding and pleading love, even to this lukewarm and careless Church. Jesus longs for intimacy.

Jesus comes to the door as the lover in the Song of Solomon (Song 5:2). He is knocking at the door of the believers hearts. They have to response from within. He wants a deep, meaningful relationship.

Jesus gave the call to individuals. He didnt say, If any church, but if anyone. He comes at our readiness to receive as one who hears His voice and opens to Him. When we give attention to what Jesus says, then we can be rescued from our own lukewarmness and enter into a zealous relationship with Him.

Jesus wants to dine with us. This meal is one at which a man sits and converse for long and unhurried time. It is not a mere courtesy visit, paid in the passing, which Jesus Christ offers to us. He desires to come in and to sit long with us, and to wait as long as we wish him to wait.

Prayer: Lord, let not the outward wealth, competence, success and applause of men deceive me to become complacent. Having known You yet not experiencing that personal intimacy with You. I open my heart door to You and will linger as You desire of me in Your presence.
