Read II Peter 3 Living Like in the Last Day

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (II Peter 3:9 NKJV)

They challenge the coming of Jesus as if its not going to happen. Where is the promise of His coming? We see it as if it is a delay. It is rooted in humans doubts, pride, reaction and a mocking attitude. Thus, Peter explains the reason of the delay. Indeed, it will be a great surprise when it happens as like a thief in the night..

Throughout the Bible God has fulfilled what He promised. God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? (Numbers 23:19). Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. (Mathew 24:35) The truth is that God will keep His promise, and without delay according to His timing.

With the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day: What seems like forever for us is but a short time for God, just as an hour may seem to be an eternity for a child but a moment for an adult. Psalm 90:4: For a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night. no lapse of ages impairs his purposes.

He had all things determined even before the foundation of the world. With God, indeed, there is neither past, present, nor future. He takes for his name the I AM. He is the I AM; I AM in the present; I AM in the past and I AM in the future. His time is perfect. He makes everything beautiful in His own time.

In reality He is longsuffering toward us because of His love. He holds back despite of great provocation of mockery and :15 His long suffering is His salvation. If He comes Rev. 6 we will see such judgments. There is a compassionate purpose in God's timing. He is still saving people. God is not willing that any should perish. Peter's statement reflects God's heart of love for the world, Any perceived delay from our perspective is due to the longsuffering of God, who allows man as much time as possible to repent. Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay; but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him. (Hebrews 10:37-38)

Prayer: Lord You are certainly coming and how we are to live in that consciousness yet without anxiety. Reaching the lost yet focusing upon You for appointment and salvation.
