COMPLETE CLEANSING
Read I John 1 Basis of Fellowship
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (I John 1:9 NKJV)
There has been some controversies regarding confessing our sins each time one commits it. Should we keep confessing our sins or we have done once and we stay forgiven forever without needing to confess again even when another sin is committed in the future? What does it mean then to accept the promise that having once confessed our sins God has forgiven us past, present and future sins?
Its clear here when we confess our sins God is faithful to cleanse us of all our sins. Though it doesnt mean we will not sin again but we are forever robed in the Righteousness of Christ and thus stand righteous before the Father. This righteousness is imputed and we have to work out in practice.
Confessions, homo legoa is to say about the same about our sin as God said. Acknowledge before God and take responsibility as God sees it.
We are not sinner confessing our sins but as saints confessing our sins, mistakes or failures in disobedience from the premise of been righteous. We are not seeking forgiveness for salvation but faults committed and the restoration of joy for sanctification Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit. (Psalms 51:12)
Spiritual restoration is not by our work but the faithfulness of God toward what He had promised. Only God can truly forgive and forget. It is the work of the Holy Spirit through the word or circumstances. His word reveal, His Spirit convicts and our conscience plucked and we said the same. Closer one is to the Lord, the more sensitive and broken one is. The more appreciative one is.
He cleansed us and its a continuous tense of each time we need just as we continually fellowship with the saints. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. (I John 1:7). It is continuous confession and the approach is always from point of being forgiven.
Prayer: Lord I am cleansed through my confession once and for all. The rest is my declaration of Your righteousness even the old nature seeks to defile. In abiding that joy I stay a clear conscience by admitting and confessing where I have failed upon conviction of Your Holy Spirit.
