Read Titus 3 Right Living in Society
But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Paul giving the contrast what we were before in verse 3, with God showing us kindness and love, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians
God was manifested as light shine upon us For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. (II Corinthians
It is not what we have done. We were dead in sin thus no work of righteousness could ever awaken us. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law. (Romans
its God who regenerated us through the word by the power of the Holy Spirit. We make our confession from within conviction that we are saved and expressed by water baptism. The Holy Spirit is poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ. God does everything through Christ. In Christ the fullness of God dwells in us, We should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. An heir has all God has given to Christ.
Prayer: Lord, it is all about You, Your mercy and grace that I am justified and through Your Spirit I am renewed. You did so abundantly for me.
PHILEMON (28 NOVEMBER DAY 339)
INTRODUCTION
Paul wrote to Philemon about AD 61 while in prison. Philemon was a well to do man. He was from Colossi. He might have been a convert of Paul at Ephesus. Likely on his return he became the church leader in Colossi. He owned slaves and one of whom was Onesimus who ran away because of some misdeeds. Onesimus visited Paul and became a convert. Paul came to know and wrote to Philemon for their reconciliation.
Verses 1-7 Prayer and praise. Paul identifying himself with Philemon as partners in the faith. Having partnership, Koinonia he shows what sharing the gift of Christs life is to draw them closer to the Messiah.
Verses 8 20 Proposal and plea. Paul requested on behalf of Onesimus that Philemon would take him back as a brother in Christ. He had served Paul faithfully in prison. He felt he had to send him back and be reconciled. He recalled the key word; partner showing the heart of the gospel being acted out just as the gospel of reconciliation. Like Jesus reconciled the world to Himself not counting their sins. He follows the example of Christ to take the faults of Onesimus behalf if need be so that Onesimus is reconciled to Philemon.
Verses 21-25 Plan would come and visit Philemon.
