Read Titus 2 Right Living in the Church

But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: (:1) that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; (:2) the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things (:3) that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,(:4) to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed. (Titus 2:1-5 NKJV)

The Cretans were known of their unwarranted culture of indolence and indulgence (1:7). Paul charged Titus to speak whats clear, certain, definite and grounded in the word not human philosophy. The Word is preached without compromised. Its none negotiable. Behavior must align with belief with the centrality of Christ in focus. He emphasis to two particular group of people, the older men and women.

The older men must have self-control. Been sober in acting with prudence in contrast of one being drunk. They must project reverence as dignify and respectful in posture, speech and actions. They must be temperate not impulsive and reactive. We do have to restrain in eating habits, in speech and making purchases. We do not act presumptuously even in our faith in God. It is based on God's word. Love with sincerity and showing patience.

The older women are role models for the younger women. They too like men are reverent in behavior. They have to guard their speeches without been slanderous. They act soberly and not given to much wine. They are to teach young women in areas of loving their husbands, their children. They exercise to be discreet and stay chaste, They focus as homemakers, Their good, obedient to their own husbands would honor the Lord.

Prayer: Lord as You have granted me life. Grant that the older I am the more Christlike I will be. I ask for strength to stay discrete, exemplary to those around in speech and faith, in love and patience.
