LOVE DEFINED
Read I Timothy 1 Instruction of Sound Doctrine
Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith, (I Timothy 1:5 NKJV)
The purpose of the law is found in its inward work upon the heart, not in mere outward observance. Gods commandment is love from a pure heart, in conformity of Godliness. Speaking the truth is done with kindness. Dealing patiently with the difficult people. A pure heart is without evil and ulterior motives. The pure in heart is blessed for they get a vision and revelation of God (Matthew 5:8)
Conscience is the knowledge of right and wrong and exercising what is right. For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you. (II Corinthians 1:12) This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men. (Acts 24:16)
In seeking to fulfil the law we will always feel condemned as we can never measure up. However, our conscience is cleansed, For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:13-14)
We therefore keep the command by faith. Faith on God and the truth He has given us. It is not hypocritical faith base upon our performances. It's not an acted-out faith to show our righteousness but fully dependence upon Him. It is genuine like a clay pot placed under the sun to see if there is crack. If there is then it's not sincere.
Prayer: Father God, You are my motivation to keep the commandment. It is love. Lord Jesus Christ Your blood has cleansed me and my conscience is clear. Holy Spirit, You lead me in my action and granted me a pure heart to do what You desire and by faith that pleases You.
