Jesus had just been baptised and proclaimed by John the Baptist as the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world. Andrew, Philip, Peter and Nathanael were His followers. This was His launch of first public ministry.

The party. Jesus with His followers were invited to the wedding party in Cana. Wedding was one of the grandest occasions in those days which were hosted for several days to a week. Jesus honour marriage as a sacrament and covenant. We visited the church in Canaan and there we rededicated our marriage and prayed too for our daughter to have a life partner of Gods choice.

The predicament. It ran out of wine in the midst of the celebration. It is considered like a crisis in such occasion. It is like a catastrophe. The joy, thrill, excitement is gone.

The provision. Mary turned to Jesus for the provision. Her faith on Jesus could be the way He had projected Himself in the family as the one shown to be perfect. Her instruction to the servants, Whatever He said, do it". She knew He was going to do something. But He was going to do it through the servants. God wants to do He wants our involvement. The servants did as they were instructed. The tediousness of carrying the water was a process of doing it is obedience without seeing the result yet. Jesus instructed the pots which were meant for purification be filled with water. It was water when they drew it, carry it, pour it, over and over again. God works in the middle of expectation. You lose the expectations you lose the potential for miracles.

The purpose. Jesus manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him. The first miracles the work He did that demonstrate His deity. He does only what God can do. This attested the faith of the disciples that Jesus indeed is the Son of the living God and the Messiah whom He claimed Himself to be.

Prayer: Lord when in predicament I can only turn to You. You are the Creator and nothing is impossible with You. I will do whatever You told me and in obedience I facilitate Your sovereign will be done.
