OUR HEART BURN
Read Luke 24 The resurrected Christ in ministry
Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight. And they said to one another, Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us? (Luke 24:31-32 NKJV)
Jesus rose from the dead three days after His crucifixion and burial. He went about comforting and strengthening the disciples. On this occasion He walked with two of them, one name Caphas who were dishearten.
Though not in the twelve yet the Lord appeared for His interest is to all including the unknown as much as those well known. They couldn't recognise Him. They were basing their faith on what they had heard expecting Jesus should have restored the Kingdom.
How did the Lord turn them around? They couldn't know Him unless He initiated it. What hindered their sight and knowledge was taken away. (1) Through the Scriptures on what the prophets had spoken and its fulfilment through suffering (2) through the actual breaking of the bread.
"He opened to us?" Their eyes were opened but not seeing him in the natural. How easy it is to let discouragement and doubt blind us the vision of Christ. He suddenly, and swiftly, and in a moment, withdrew Himself from them. Then they knew Him. This is an illumination on their mind.
Their "heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road," They encountered the Lord through having heard the word and taken the sacrament. Fellowship that draws us closer to God comes through an encounter with Christ. A transformation within that brings about the revival to share it with other disciples what they seen and heard of Jesuss resurrection.
Prayer: Lord You have initiated the revelation of Yourself through the Word and communion. In each time spend on the word and prayer I desire to see You as You would want to show me of Yourself.
