JESUS PRAYS FOR US
Read Luke 22 The Last Supper
And the Lord said, Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren. (Luke 22:31-32 NKJV)
The disciples were disputing among themselves as who is the greatest. Jesus taught about serving. We see the cautious, comfort and the command in this passage.
First the cautious. Jesus addressed Simon twice, in a personal way and reminding meaning he is like sifting sands as in the fresh but Jesuss love gives him the attention. The enemy purpose in shifting Peter is to bring the wickedness out of the fresh, the pride of life, it's lust and bring guilt resulting in condemnation and lost faith.
Second, the comfort. Jesus is praying for Peter would not give out his faith. Weak as Simon was, he had the desire to follow Christ. While so doing he was still unaware of the enemy's scheme. Yet an assurance through Christs prayer, Peter would be sustained.
Morris Cerullo's vision of Him as the Great High Priest at the altar of incense offering up our petition before the Father. What a Comfort even when we are at dead end not knowing what to and how to pray, we can rest with the awareness of our Great High Priest touched by our infirmities making intercession on our behalf, Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:14-16)
Finally, the command. There's a purpose when God sustains and kept us, that's to strengthen and encourage our brothers. This is the same as God is reaching out to strengthen them.
Prayer: Lord, I am thankful as I thought of what I am. Its the prayers of Your children but more so it's the awareness that You are praying for me. Through which I am established, strengthened and been able to encourage my brethren.
