AN AWAKENING
Bible Reading: Luke 15 Parables of the lost and found
But when he came to himself, he said, How many of my fathers hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants. (Luke 15:17-19 NKJV)
God brought him to a place of self awareness. Many experienced the same when they came to dead ends, place of convictions and it's the goodness of God that leads to repentance. For example, Moses in the wilderness when fleeing for his life from Pharaoh, and Elijah when fleeing his life from Jezebel. God draws them to Himself. The choice is ours at such transitions in life and yielding to Him in obedience bears the fruit of the Spirit.
Hardness of heart will lead to deceit and destruction. Haven't we so often stirred to the awareness of our self in blaming others, wrong choices made and realised our disobedience. This son who gone prodigal didn't blame his friends, his boss, or the pigs. He went back to his father, I will arise and go to my father.
He thought of the blessings while staying with his father. We will perish spiritually then eternally had we continue our own prodigal way of been separated from God. It will always remind us of God's mercy that He is still there for us. Invited us to partake of His nature and delight in the communion.
There's always chances available from God when we acted in ignorance and weaknesses without hardening our hearts.
Prayer: Lord Thank You for allowing me to come to an awareness of my short coming, indifference, carelessness. I am not condemned for You are the everlasting Source of my provision of joy. Theres always sufficient and abundance in Your supply.
