THE LORD OF THE HARVEST
Read Luke 10 The Sending of the Seventy
Then He said to them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. (Luke 10:2 NKJV)
General MacArthur called for missionaries be send to Japan when he stepped on its shore after victory was declared. The church did not take heed and the door was shut. Theres an opportune window in different nations and at different transitions. When its passed, the multitude had turned to idolatry. Japan today Christians is less than 1% of the population.
Jesus used the language people understood. In farming theres the harvest time and the call to all available to reap. Once its over the food would be rotten. Reap while there is opportunity.
Jesus considered the multitude of humanity to be like a harvest field ready for gathering. He thought of the greatness of human need, and saw it as an opportunity. He was moved with compassion. The need of shepherd, the need of labourers because the people are ready, they are seeking and are lost, they are bound and spiritual bankrupt unless these are real they soon perish.
There is insufficient labourer to cope with the ripened harvest and the way is to pray. This means not only that there needs to be more workers, but that we have to be about our work for the Lord. When there is a lot of work and few workers, you have to get busy.
Jesus commands them to pray; the work in front of them is great and cannot be accomplished without much prayer. For only the Lord knows who are ready and be send to the field and where they are assigned.
Prayer: Lord You have send me and I am given Your grace and favour in co-labouring with You and others. Grant the multiplication of our endeavour.
