BEEN PURSUED AND POSSESSED
Read Song of Solomon 6 The Assurance of the Shulamite
I am my beloveds, And my beloved is mine. He feeds his flock among the lilies. (Song of Solomon 6:3 NKJV)
The friends of the bride noticed that her Beloved was missing and they asked about Him. She knew she is loved and regardless of the distance they will never be apart. Here we see three factors from her confession.
She expressed confidence of been belonged. Earlier in chapter 2:16 she thought she possesses him. Now she has matured to know He possesses her first. Such comes through her experience with the beloved in his pursue for her, his expression of love and choice he made in comparison to the many women he has observed. I am my beloveds, And his desire is toward me. (Song of Solomon 7:10) In numerous ways, We are His. By creation we are His; for by Him and for Him we were created. Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. (Psalms 100:3). By redemption, Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are Gods. (1Corinthians 6:19-20). We are no longer our own. Everything that we possess is His--our time, our possessions, our strength, our influence, our body and faculties of mind, all are His.
Second, the sense of personal ownership. It is the mutuality, the oneness in this relationship. Now she sees the beloved belongs to her as well. So is our relationship with Christ, Christ is mine. All that He possesses is yours. His power is yours to defend you, His wisdom and knowledge are yours to guide you, His righteousness is yours to justify you, His Spirit and grace are yours to sanctify you, His heaven is yours to receive you.
Third, the fellowship with him as the shepherd. They are seated among the lilies, feeding his flock. Jesus is the Good Shepherd and He feeds us (Psalm 23) as well we feed on Him in the communion.
Prayer: Lord, You have made me Yours. I am Yours, and You are mine too. All thats Yours are made available to me. I shall not lack. Your desire that I have You as my devotion and this You have all that do replace my love towards You. My deepest longing is to love the way You love. Transform me in this safe place.
