SONGS OF SOLOMON [27 29 MAY DAY 148 - 150]
INTRODUCTION
The Song of Solomon also called the Song of Songs. This book is a love story between a King and a shepherdess. Some have drawn the analogy of the Song as God loves his people. It is a nuptial song, expressions of love from between a courting couple (characters) to between a bridegroom and his bride (intimacy).
There are three parts in this Song. There's the engagement, the wedding, and the marriage.
Chapters 1 3:5 Engagement, including the courtship. The Shulamite soon-to-be bride speaks, and she speaks to herself of the longing she has for the king but needs his initiative. (1:4)
Chapter 3:6 5:1 Wedding, including the wedding procession. She could see with the entourage of chariots coming." The portable covered throne of Solomon is coming to pick her up. Solomon isn't in there. He's down in Jerusalem, but he's sending the bodyguards to protect that bride going all the way down through the Jordan Valley to Jerusalem.
Chapter 5:2 8 Marriage. Chapter 5 and 6 is about a conflict and the resolution set out in poetic stance. She is now in his chamber sleeping yet her heart is awake. Something is bothering her, some unresolved conflict, The bridegroom has come home in a romantic mood knocking on the door, But she wasnt enthusiastic toward her husband. However, when she yearns for him, her beloved had turned away and was gone."
Chapter 6 the resolution. She's now saying, "I am my beloved, and my beloved is mine." (6:4) They're now speaking to each other. And as they're speaking to each other and the conflict gets resolved, they end up using the same mushy language that they used back in chapter 4.
Chapter 7 and 8 the romance. Love matures, it's a romance based on commitment.
