Read Proverb 17 Exercising Wisdom in Relationship

A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity. (Proverbs 17:17 NKJV)

Who would you call for assistance when you are in need? Are there friends you meet for spiritual accountability?

I thought of some brothers and sisters in Christ who were with me through difficult times. They visited me when I was not well, out of employment and in the midst of ministry conflict. Such a bond does not come naturally. It is Gods inspired and parties must initiate it. God brought David and Jonathan together as soul mates Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt. (

Spiritual companionship is birth out of the common love for God, I am a companion of all who fear You, And of those who keep Your precepts. (Psalms 119:63) Ones advice is well received, Ointment and perfume delight the heart, And the sweetness of a mans friend gives delight by hearty counsel. (Proverbs 27:9). Relationship is authentic and sincere, even in giving rebuke Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. (Proverbs 27:6).

It needs to be nurture; you overcome self-pride, aloofness and piety. A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. (Proverbs 18:24). It gives the picture of an ultimate friendship that is only in Christ who laid down His life for us.

Prayer: Lord there are people we love to meet and be connected again. Where you remind us grant us wisdom and opportunities to connect and cultivate the bond You meant us to have.
