GODLY COUNSELS
Read Proverbs 15 Contrast the Upright and the Wicked
Without counsel, plans go awry, But in the multitude of counselors they are established. (Proverbs 15:22 NKJV)
Whats hold us back from sharing our plans? Is it the fear being quenched? Are we tempted to act without their knowledge?
If a man determines and resolves upon a matter, and at once hastily and precipitately goes about it, without mature deliberation, without consulting with himself, doing some research and taking the advice of others in forming a scheme to bring about his designs, it generally comes to nothing. Jesus spoke of counting the cost (Luke 14:28-32)
God speaks to us through His word and also His people. We seek therefore godly counsel to confirm or guide us in our decision. A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, (Proverbs 1:5). Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety. (Proverbs 11:14)
As we have blind spots, we need other to help us see objectively. Whatever our plans are; we seek those who are expertise of their fields just as the President will have his presidential counsel for the direction, he takes to lead the nation.
For us, the church of God is our counsel. We are in the biggest family where there is never a lack of counselors. Jesus is the Chief Counselor and His word our guide. Whatever counsel we received must therefore be in line with His word even not leaning in our own natural understanding.
Prayer: Lord I am thankful that I am not alone. Direct and guide me how I can share my concern with my leaders so as to see Your work accomplished.
