MATTER OF THE HEART
Read Proverbs 4 Security in Wisdom
Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. (Proverbs 4:23 NKJV)
The heart is the wellspring of life. In other words, it is the source of everything else in your life. It overflows into thoughts, words, and actions; the source of everything you do. It is the essence of who you are. It is your authentic selfthe core of your being. It is where all your dreams, your desires, and your passions live. It is that part of you that connects with God and other people.
Guard is a military term like guarding the installation or gate from enemys attack. We are living in a combat zone in which attacks often come in the form of circumstances that lead to disappointment, discouragement, or even disillusionment. So, if we guard our heart to honor God; then what comes forth are good. I suggest four disciplines:
Reflection by meditate on the word, and practice journaling. Exercise regular quiet time and seeing Him in the midst of it. What He is doing that show His strength is perfected in our weakness. If our heart condemnation us; He is greater than our heart.
Rest is more than just physical rest. Rather spending uncluttered time with the Lord. Schedule sabbatical retreats, breaking free from the tyranny of expectations and demands. Practicing stillness and committing to God all your cares,
Recreation rather than amusement. It leads one totally detach from work. It shifts one to focus the present, and reconnect with ones heart with God through fun, nature and appreciation of God's pleasure.
Relationship that edifies. Confiding, sharing and confirming with those who love the Lord and are willing to sensing with you will strengthen your faith. It gives us accountability when we have people who fear God. Seeking to refresh others will themselves be refreshed.
Prayer: Lord Your Spirit who dwells within me will guard my heart with wisdom and direct my path. I stay in the posture for a heart that is after You regardless of the pressure to compromise or be distracted.
