GOD DESERVES OUR TRUST
Read Job 12 - 14 Job Fourth Speech: A response to Zophar
Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him. He also shall be my salvation, For a hypocrite could not come before Him. (Job 13:15-16 NKJV)
Just as first dialogue with Eliphaz, then Bildad who both condemned Job for his sins based on human experiences or tradition; Zophar was critical of Job for too much idle words claiming he is flawless. He urges Job to repent and that would prosper him. They assumed they were speaking the mind of God.
Job felt tire of arguing with them. He was grieved by the counsellors as they have spoken wickedly of God in his perspective. In responding now to Zophar; he is putting his hope totally in God. He would still say what he had spoken that he did not do anything worthy of such turmoil. even if God kill me, He is unquestionable worthy and deserve the trust of all mankind for He is the Creator. However, Job would stand on his integrity, Far be it from me That I should say you are right; Till I die I will not put away y integrity from me. (Job 27:5)
Job sees God's surpassing wisdom and greatness. and boldly acknowledges God as his salvation. God is the object of his trust and confidence, seeing in Him is everlasting strength, to fulfil His promises ultimately.
Job has confidence of coming to God as he is not a hypocrite.
As counsellor He who has knowledge spares his words, And a man of understanding is of a clam spirit. (Proverbs 17:27) if our message is not of hope we might be misrepresent God.
Prayer: Lord You are my Salvation and whom can I go and trust? I cant even trust myself except the righteousness I have in Christ. I will defend what Christ has done for me that entitle me to the blessings promised to those who believe.
