Read Job 2 Jobs trials

And he said: Naked I came from my mothers womb, And naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD. (Job 1:21 NKJV)

Satan came to kill, steal and destroy (John10:10). Economically Job lost everything he had (1:14-17) including possessions, business, employee. Domestically: he lost all his children; they were killed in the midst of their celebration (1:18,19) and even his wife turned against him (2:9) Physically: his body was stricken with great pain and full of boils (2:7,8). He was mentally and emotionally confused. He asked why?

However, Job remanded steadfast. He knew (1) his origin that he was born naked and so shall be at the end. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. (

There are fair-weathered believers, following God only when everything is going well or for what they can get. Adversity destroys this superficial faith. But adversity strengthens real faith by causing believers to dig their roots deeper into God in order to withstand the storms. Job spoke in faith in the midst of his trials (14:8-12 cp. 19:25-27). Job could not place his hope on his experiences, friends, wealth, when everything is stripped away. God is still his focus. This attitude affirmed he was blameless before God.

Prayer: Lord remind me that I am Your possession and what You have entrusted me even this life is an expression of Your love. I live with what You have given me may bring You pleasure. I take delight in the transition I know I could live to leave a legacy of love.
