Read II Chronicles Uzziah Rules in Judah

Then Uzziah became furious; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense. And while he was angry with the priests, leprosy broke out on his forehead, before the priests in the house of the LORD, beside the incense altar. (II Chronicles 26:19 NKJV)

John Bevere on his book, Undercover wrote much about the blessing of serving under covering. What does it mean to be undercover; it is meant to be under protection.

The various successors of Jehoshaphat as king of Judah before Uzziah. They were: Jehoram who killed all his brothers (Chapter 21) Ahaziah joined Joram Ahabs son of Israel against King Hazael of Syria defeated and while visiting wounded Joram got killed by Jehu (Chapter 22) His Mother Athaliah usurped but Jehoiada the Priest intervened and raised Joash the next king who started well by following advice of Jehoiada but turned to idolatry after the latter' death (Chapter 23-24) Amaziah started right but provoked Israel for battle ended in defeat and murdered by his servants (Chapter 25) Then Uzziah his son became king.

He followed God during the lifetime of Zechariah, who taught him how to honour God. As long as he followed the Lord, God caused him to succeed. However, he became proud of his military, economic and building achievements; his pride destroyed him.

He went against the Lord's command; he entered the Lords temple to offer incense on the incense altar. Azariah the priest and eighty other brave priests confronted him. He had an incense censer in his hand. He became angry. While he was ranting and raving at the priests, a skin disease appeared on his forehead right there in front of the priests in the Lords temple near the incense altar. They hurried him out of there; he suffered from a skin disease until the day he died.

We may be dedicated but disillusioned to assume leadership over roles God has ordained for another. It is a joy to stay contented where God has placed us and play a supportive role to the church and its leadership.

Prayer: Father God, however I may think I could have done a better job, what is expected of my potential and yet by passed or the position not given me; teach me to serve under the leadership You have ordained above me. Lord even in the midst of the strife, the concern to see things changed; it has to be You who place me there. I will from my being express contentment and acknowledge those You placed in their calling.
