"O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You. (II Chronicles 20:12 NKJV)
This was the prayer of King Jehoshaphat (4th king of Judah). when Moabites and Ammonites came to attack Judah. Grid with fear he did not know what to do but seek the LORDs advice with this petition.
The actions he took let to victory. (1) He decreed that all Judah should observe a fast as this was a national crisis. (2) He acknowledged who God is (creation and above all) what He has done (Abraham) and the promises He made with His people (temple) (3) He petitioned their situation now and their inability (4) Response to the exhortation given by Jachaziel, "Dont be afraid and dont panic because of this huge army! For the battle is not yours, but Gods. (5) Acted upon the word; he marches down against them by worship. He appointed musicians to play before the Lord and praise his majestic splendour.
As they began to shout and praise, the Lord suddenly attacked the Ammonites, Moabites, and men from Mount Seir. When the men of Judah arrived at the observation post overlooking the desert and looked at the huge army, they saw dead bodies on the ground; there were no survivors! Jehoshaphat and his men went to gather the plunder; they returned with joy and the surrounding nations having heard this fear them.
Prayer: Father God, I am not able to do whatever is entrusted me in my own strength nor overcome the enemy. I confess my dependence. I worship You as One who know whatever is happening. You come and handle the situation. I acknowledge its Your battle as I march against the enemy.
