Read II Chronicles 16 Asas Compromise

"For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars. (II Chronicles 16:9 NKJV)

God loved Asa and he was blessed in the earlier reign of repairing the temple and gaining power in victory over battles through dependence upon God.

He began turning to human help instead of the Lord subsequently. He gave the silver and gold from the LORDs temple and the royal palace to King Ben Hadad of Syria to make a treaty with him to attack King Baasha of Israel.

Hanani the prophet reproved him for his actions. Reminding him of the deliverance from Cushites and Libyans which have a huge army with chariots and a very large number of horsemen. But now he relied on the king of Syria, he caused the army of the king of Syria escaped from him. He put Hanani in jail then developed a foot disease and did not seek the Lord, but only the physicians at the end of his life.

Keep our eyes on the Lord when there is the temptation of relying on the flesh to solve our problems. It is not wrong to have helps from the physicians but our ultimate trust and help is our focus on the Lord.

Prayer: Father God, You long to show Yourself strong as we remain loyal to You. In any occasions that we took pride and act presumptuously, cause us to be reminded of Your blessings and favour that we will remain loyal to You. It's not just begun well but to finish well trusting You to the end.
