THREAT IN THE MIDST OF REVIVAL
Read II Chronicles 29-32 Hezekiah Rules in Judah
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him. With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles. And the people gained confidence from what Hezekiah the king of Judah said. " (II Chronicles 32:7-8)
Hezekiah was instrumental to Judah's revival. He reopened the doors of the Temple of the Lord and repaired them. Mobilized the Levites and priests to purify themselves and carry up the offerings. He removed all the defiled things from the sanctuary and made a covenant with the Lord.
During this time, Sennacherib threatened Jerusalem. Hezekiah encouraged the people to be strong and courageous and not be afraid or discouraged. He was able to do so because he had sought the Lord and Isaiah the prophet of this time. The awareness of Gods help had encouraged him. The enemy use fear and once we are discouraged, without the moral to stand up, we are harbouring unbelief.
The enemy, king of Assyria may have the vast army but is only the arm of flesh. However, Hezekiahs perspective was God who is all powerful would fight His battle for their behalf.
The people became confidence what Hezekiah had said. How important as leaders we are to speak words of faith. Subsequently, we note King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah cried out in prayer to God in heaven. And the Lord sent an angel to destroy the Assyrian army with all its commanders and officers. Sennacherib was forced to return home in disgrace to his own land. And when he entered the temple of his god, one of his own sons killed him there with a sword. That is how the Lord rescued Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem from King Sennacherib of Assyria.
Prayer: Father God, You are with me when I am under threat of the enemy. You are not passively watching over me but engage in the battle on my behalf. I will response by faith and courage not fear and doubt. This lies my key to victory.
