SEEING WITH GOD'S SIGHT
Read II Kings 6 Elishas Prayer
So he answered, Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see. Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. (II Kings 6:16-17).
An elderly couple was asked how they were so calm when many were anxious as the boat was going through the storm. Their response was they were looking at the calm horizon beyond.
The king of Syria was upset when his strategic plan of attack was revealed. He thought this was the conspiracy of his generals with Israel until he was informed this was Elisha who made known to the people. In reacting to the situation, he sends a contingent to arrest Elisha.
Elisha's servant saw how they were surrounded. He was gripped with fear. He sees only the natural. Whereas Elisha sees Gods angelic host hover over them. Theres more in the spiritual realm than the physical. Elisha answered, Do not fear". Fear thats destructive and intimidation does not come from God. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (II Timothy 1:7)
Elisha prayed for his servant eyes to be opened. We too pray for those who are anxious that they might see His power instead of being preoccupied with the now. It is the Lord who opens the eyes of his servant to see the army of the Lord as Elisha had seen.
We often judge and response in the natural. We have to intentional exercise the spiritual sight given us. See as the Holy Spirit reveals to us. As children of light, we see because we walk in that light. "For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways," (Psalms 91:11)
Prayer: Father God, open my eyes what I needed to see in the midst of every difficult moment. Instead of the natural response; I will focus upon You. I will appreciate Your power and glory.
