PROVIDENCE REVEALED
Read Ruth 4 Boaz marries Ruth
So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife; and when he went in to her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bore a son. Also the neighbour women gave him a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi. And they called his name Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David. (Ruth 4:13,17 NKJV)
Boaz married Ruth as the first closer kinsman would not accept her. By this marriage Boaz provided a glorious destiny for Ruth. Boaz as kinsman-redeemer to Ruth, took her as his wife. A picture of Christ who redeemed us. He took on humanity so as to identify with us as a family member. He brought us from slavery to freedom. His motivation for redeeming us is His great love for us and we are collectively called His bride (Ephesians 5:31-32; Revelation 21:9).
As Boaz through the consummation of the marriage, Ruth gave birth to Obed. Obed takes away the reproach of childlessness from Naomi and comfort her in old age. So is Christ, Fear not; you will no longer live in shame. Dont be afraid; there is no more disgrace for you. You will no longer remember the shame of your youth and the sorrows of widowhood. For your Creator will be your husband; the LORD of Heavens Armies is his name! He is you Redeemer, the Holy One of Is4ael, the God of all the earth. (Isaiah 54:4-5)
Ruth gave birth to Obed. Prophetically spoken by the women of the town that this child will be famous in Israel (Ruth 4:14-15). For it was from Obed came Jesse and then David. She became the great-grand mother of King David and occupied a place in the genealogy leading to Christ (Ruth 4:21-22; Matthew1:5,6).
Can you believe it? The two women who fled so low, grief over death of loved ones, in famish and lack are now so blessed of God. Even once a Gentile, Ruth and Naomi were chosen as the line of ancestry which Jesus would come. Just as Ruth was unaware of this larger purpose in her life, we will not know the full purpose and importance of our lives until we are able to look back from the perspective of eternity.
Prayer: Father God, Thank You for Jesus to be my Redeemer. Lord Jesus, have chosen me and redeemed all that I had lost, given me a new name, perpetuate the blessings to subsequent generations and I am Your bride. Through You, we have our inheritance. Your blessing cannot be fathomed as it goes down to the third and fourth generation.
