GOD SEES TO IT
Read Genesis 22 The Test of Abrahams Faith
Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh (which means the Lord will provide). To this day, people still use that name as a proverb: On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided. (Genesis 22:14)
An older brother spoke to his younger sister, You are making much more. Haha you can take care of mom and dad. Laughing over it, dad responded, Is God who takes care of us! How true it is as we read through scripture and testimonies that ultimately is God who is the Source of all provision.
In old age both Abraham and Sarah had no possibility of having an heir of their own. However, He believed in Gods promise to have a child with Sarah. Isaac was born. In the day of Abraham, the people in the surrounding regions practise child sacrifice. They were heathen seeking to appease their gods. Now Abraham was tested to offer his only son. It was a test from God. He had believed God promised to bless his posterity in abundance. He was tested of His priority in loving God above that of his son, Isaac.
He had the posture of availability and his obedience was based on faith that God would preserve his son. He told the servant they would go, worship and return. By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, In Isaac your seed shall be called, concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense. (Hebrews 11:17-19)
Just as Abraham was about to offer Isaac; Gods angel stopped him and provided a ram instead. Abraham received the affirmation of his faith in God. He called the place, Jehovah Jireh. Down the century that lamb was prophetic picture of God offering His only Son for Himself on our behalf. He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? (Romans 8:32). Indeed, we have no lack and He provides what He instructed us to do and thus we are able to fulfil. And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)
The journey of faith is continuous test. Faith must be tried knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. (James 1:3-4) Do we truly believe the word of God is evidenced by our obedience?
Prayer: Father God, You are my Jehovah Jireh. The Source of everything I need. Others are just channels. I look not to man but You to provide. Your provision is as clear as what is required of me to offer at Your bidding.
