BLESSING AWAITS IN OBEDIENCE
Read Genesis 12 The Call of Abram
Now the LORD had said to Abram: Get out of your country, From your family And from your fathers house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. (Genesis 12:1-3)
Many left their countries on their own accord to make a better living elsewhere. As for Abram it was God's call leaving his household of idolatry. He didn't know where he was heading but he took the first step in obedience. God says I will is all about the plans and blessing of God as He leads.
God promised him the land, Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you. (Genesis 13:17)
God promised him the people from him, a great posterity, a great nation. "Look toward heaven and number the stars if you are able to number them So shall your descendants be" (Genesis 15:5). From him came the people of Israel, Yeshua (Jesus) and all Gentiles who come through faith (Romans 4:16-18; 9:68). As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. (Genesis 17:4-5)
God promised him blessing making his name great. The Hittites viewed him as a mighty prince (Gen.23) The Jews quoted him as their ancestor. Jesus, Peter, Stephen, and Paul made mention of him. There is probably no more honoured name in history than the name of Abram, honoured by Jews, Muslims, and Christians.
God promised His blessings upon those who blessed him and vice versa to those who curse him. This we see through history, those who were anti-Semitism came to their own destruction and those who bless the Jews were blessed of God.
A life of obedience is a life of blessings. Am I walking in obedience by faith on what God has promised me?
Prayer: Father God, You chosen me to follow You and initiated the blessings upon my life. I will live in obedience by faith as empowered by Your Holy Spirit that pleases You. I receive the blessings of the covenant made through Christ.
