Read Genesis 4:1-16 Cain and Abel

Then the LORD said to Cain, Where is Abel your brother? He said, I do not know. Am I my brothers keeper? And He said, What have you done? The voice of your brothers blood cries out to Me from the ground. (Genesis 4:9-10)

Most parents desire and nurture their children to love one another. Yet siblings rivalry happens as in this case of the first sibling, Cain and Abel. Both must have been taught to offer sacrifices to God. When Cains offering was rejected; he killed his brother, Abel. God holds him accountable but his response was a denial, and an excuse.

Significantly, the mention of Abels blood reminds us of Jesuss blood, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. (Hebrews 12:24). For in many ways His blood speaks better than that of Abel. It speaks of the new covenant God makes with us, For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. (Matthew 26:28)

It speaks of our redemption, knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. (I Peter 1:18-19).

It purges our conscience and has given us access to God, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:14). Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus... let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:19, 22-23)

Ultimately, it is the blood that makes us over-comers, And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. (Revelation 12:11).

Prayer: Father God, everyone matters to You. May my attitude be right before you when my brothers are blessed and acknowledged. Grant me the grace to be my brothers keeper whoever You have placed me in responsible relationship.
