Read Genesis 2 Adam and Eve

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. (Genesis 1:27)

How he looks like his dad? We would say because he was born with the fathers image. Yet it is beyond outward appearance and gender. Mother Teresa I see Jesus in every human being. I say to myself; this is hungry Jesus. I must feed him. This is sick Jesus. This one has leprosy or gangrene; I must wash him and tend to him. I serve because I love Jesus". This was what kept her going to minister to those poor of the poorest in Calcutta. Thats the image of God she sees.

What does Image mean? It is mans non-material substantive entity, the personhood, the existence of rationality, spirituality, conscience and free moral will. There is thus dignity, destiny, and freedom for each man. We thus treat each other with dignity for they were created in Gods image. I am first a being before doing. Who am I? Where do I come from? Why am I here? How should I live? We arent self-centre with such questions as we wrestle within us. Rather we are searching for the origin of our creation. We live fulfilled life when we have these puzzling questions answered.

After Adam and Eve sinned, man bears the image of Adam overshadowing that of God. This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created. And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth. (Genesis 5:1-3) He lost fellowship with God. Man seeks doing to be accepted but fall short.

Jesus came to restore that image that had fallen. That image will be Christ like, For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. (Romans 8:29) Christ restores that image to those who received Him and the fellowship with God is restored.

Am I now exercising the capacity God had created me? Will the way I relate to fellow mankind as created in God's image? Am I serving and praying that Christ may be formed in them?

Prayer: Father God, I am wonderfully and fearfully made. I cherish the way You have created me. Thank You Lord Jesus for redeeming me and restoring the image God that I was created. Holy Spirit I acknowledge You inhabit in this temple. Empower me to live out the potential of being Christs image and I will see in others the same as I relate to them in Jesus Name. Amen.
