Our Eternal Wedding
Read Revelation 19 Songs of Victory in Heaven
Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. (Revelation 19:7 NKJV)
This is the culmination of human history. There is the praise and worship of a great multitude that sounds like mighty thundering. The judgment of the wicked has come, the triumph of Gods people is ascertained and the wedding of the Lamb and His bride, the church is taking place.
The Lamb of God to be joined unto His people, in a union so close it can only be compared to the marriage of a man and a woman (Ephesians 5:25-27).
In Biblical times a marriage involved two major events, the betrothal and the wedding. These were normally separated by a period of time during which the two individuals were considered husband and wife and as such were under the obligations of faithfulness. The wedding began with a procession to the brides house, which was followed by a return to the house of the groom for the marriage feast. By analogy, the church, espoused to Christ by faith, now awaits the heavenly groom to come for her.
What do we do to make ourselves ready for this wedding? There is much for us to do, but it is ultimately a work God does in us. The bride is adorned with clean and bright fine linen (Revelation 19:8). It speaks of the purity, loyalty and faithfulness of the bride.
Prayer: Lord, I am one of the chosen to be Your bride. What a glorious day that will be when we are united to You in oneness as bride and Bridegroom. Now with this foretaste of the union as betrothed; I cherish it. I keep myself ready for the actual day of marriage.
