CHRIST THE PRE-EMINENCE
Read Colossians 1 The Pre-Eminence of Christ
For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. (:16) And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. (Colossians 1:16-17 NKJV)
Paul in refuting the Colossian Heresy that Christ is less than God. He affirmed Christ is God the Creator. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. (John 1:3) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1) This includes all the stars in the heavenly and great sea creatures and every living thing on earth both visible and invisible,
Paul emphasized that thrones belonging to kings, or monarchs, "dominions" belonging to lords, dukes, and earls, "principalities" referring to governors of provinces and cities; and "powers" refers to interior magistrates were all made by Him. Whatever ranks of beings there may be are ultimately answer to Him. Nebuchadnezzar came to acknowledge God as the Most High whose dominion is everlasting dominion, whose kingdom is from generation to generation. He does according to His will and none can hinder Him (Daniel 4:34-35).
All things were created for His delight and service. The angels are to worship Him and minister to Him. All were made for his glory, and for His pleasure.
Jesus is before all things for He is the eternal God. All things evolve around Him. He is in control; and in Him all things are held together. The idea that Jesus is both the unifying principle and the personal sustainer of all creation. How we marvelled since creation the sun rises and set, the air we breathe and all things that keep this universe intact remains. How majestic is the glory of God, The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. (Psalms 19:1) For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, (Romans 1:20)
Prayer: Lord, You are the Source and Creator. I have no lack. As all things point to You and You are in full control. Knowing the end even before the beginning; I shall live for Your pleasure.
