SOLELY GRACE
Read Ephesians 2 Our Salvation and Oneness in Christ
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, (Ephesians 2:8)
John Newton was a slave trader. He lived a life of rebellion, anger and vulgarity prior to encounter with God through a storm while out at sea. Upon his conversion he wrote Amazing Grace. This being sung through the centuries as a reminder of grace has brought us salvation and leads us home. Its such a grace that I dont and I can never work to earn salvation but in appreciation I am living a life motivated by it.
The means for our salvation is grace. John Stott took GRACE as Gods Riches at Christs Expense. Its Christ who paid it all for our sin. We could never experience salvation by our initiative or any form of good work. We were dead in sin. And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins ... even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (Ephesians 2:1, 5).
The method for our salvation is through faith. Without faith is impossible to please Him (Hebrews 11:6). We are justified by faith Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1) We need not depend on self-efforts to earn Gods eternal blessings. They are already ours.
The motivation of our salvation is the gift of God. Its grace and I can never work it. In appreciation I am living a life motivated by it. Works acceptable to God is an outflow of the righteousness we have in Christ. Everything we have is from the Lord and Jesus the most precious gift. We are forever thankful and thus we serve out of this gratitude. For there is none other gift more precious than salvation? This gateway to all other Gods gift and blessings is based on grace, faith and receiving without cost.
Prayer: Lord, I am saved by Your grace. This faith is the gift from You. I am living out as one seated in the heavenly places in Christ. Whatever I do grant me the awareness of the blessing I have already received. This grace compels me to serve as I take this journey of faith to the end showing the exceeding riches of Your grace in Your kindness towards me.
