ABOUNDING IN HOPE
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13 NKJV)
Hope is the certainty of the blessing we look forward and live towards its reality. It is the everlasting future thats revealed in His word. Its confidence lies in Gods faithfulness. It gives us purpose and power to endure all things God is the God of hope. God is the Provider, origin, object and source of hope. Our hope in things, circumstances or any persons may fail but not God. He has reminded us of His faithfulness through the scripture, For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. (Romans 15:4)
When we place our hope in God we are filled with all joy and peace. Joy is outcome of decision made in obedience regardless of circumstances. It comes through our relationship with God. Such joy doesnt come from external factors that suit you and get what you want. Paul has such joy even in the midst of tribulation (2 Corinthians 7:4). The Holy Spirit does through His illumination, guidance and comfort. Christian need not have a defeatist attitude. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11) Our view of eschatological of the new heaven and new earth belief affects our conduct. It gives a victorious life style.
For our hope is a full measure from God. It is impossible for God to lie. Unchangeability of His counsel. Immunity of His character and word. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. (Hebrews 6:19-20)
Prayer: Lord Your promises are yea and amen. I live with joy and confidence that the outcome works for Your glory. You are the Source of my hope.
