EMPOWER TO SPEAK
Reading: Acts 16-18 Pauls Second Missionary Journey
Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city. (Acts 18:9-10 NKJV)
Paul was in Corinth, a rich metropolitan city but filled with idolatry, immorality and corruption. He faced the accusations, malicious opposition and criticism from the Jews. He felt inadequate which he wrote subsequently to the Corinthians I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. (I Corinthians 2:3-5)
While feeling discouraged in attempting to share the Gospel; the Lord revealed Himself to Paul through a night vision. He needed to hear from God clearly when it comes to fulfilling His plan, doing His work and accomplishing it with His results.
The Lord reminded him not to fear as God has given us one of power, love and sound mind (II Timothy 1:7) Paul however intelligent and courageous he is, experienced and confidence he needed Gods assurance of His words.
Paul is to speak and not be passively silence. God is not requiring him to be a philosophical orator but simply a messenger. The Lord who gives the opportunity will give also the grace. Yet when one speaks as a servant of the Lord to do so in this manner, If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. (I Peter
He reassured Paul of His presence as He had gave the great commission (Matthew 28:18-19). When and where God sends you will also empower and protect you. Though there were occasions of which he had been terribly hurt and stoned. we noted Galileo was there to speak and the Lord raise him to protect Paul. God uses pre believers to speak for our behalf. Like Elijah when God strengthened him. There are many who still who follow the Lord beyond our knowledge. Many of the Corinthians were believers. The darker the place and day may be the greater the power of God and work of God is accomplished.
Prayer: Lord, You reveal Yourself at the time when our faith needs to be strengthened so as to enable us to speak for Your glory
