Reading Acts 6 Appointment of deacons

Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business; but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word. (Acts 6:3-4 NKJV)

As the number of believers increase the apostles not wanting to busy themselves with serving the people and neglecting prayer or the studying of the word and preaching needed to appoint other leaders to serve. The qualifications for these men to be chosen are? Ezk. 22:30 cp. what the world looks for considered as a man?

Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men speaks clearly there is a relationship within the family of God. They are saved and accountable to each other for the wellbeing of the fellowship. Three criteria -

Good reputation those who have being blameless and with integrity.

full of the Holy Spirit they were living a spirit filled life. One of dependence upon God.

Wisdom, those who could make decisions with peace and unity as wisdom from above is peaceable.

These are appointed over this business; they are delegated and have oversight of the administration and business matters of the people.

The apostles would give themselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word. These two aspects are the most significant roles God called those into the ministry that require priority.

Prayer: Lord how we chose leaders we asked that we might have Your yardsticks for these chosen are projection of Your nature.
