Read John 17 The High Priestly Prayer

I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. (:15) They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world (:16) Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. (:17) As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. (John 17:15-18)

Often called the high priestly prayer of Jesus. The time for Jesus departure from earth has come. He prays for His disciples as well as those yet to be to disciples.

He prays that the Father would remain the disciples in this world. The world, cosmos represents the values and system that are opposed to God. We remain, because we are the salt to preserve, to be light else the world be destroyed or in total darkness. Thus, we can bear witness of His light. The world is the field we live for Christ. Thus, affirming Gods love and the sake of our loved ones. It is also a school God training us to experience the Grace, fulfilling our calling and for the glory to come where we will rule with Him. It is the battle ground we fight the enemy. Even Christ needs to come, to be tempted, to learn obedience, so as to identify with us.

We are to remain here in this world surrounded by problems yet be kept from the evil one. The Christian is like a ship which is made to float in the water. As long as it's floating in the water, it's alright. The only danger is when you get the water in the ship. The Christian is made to live in the world. But you start getting the world in the Christian, you get into trouble, like getting water in the ship.

Though in this world yet we are not of the world. But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. (Philippians 3:20) For He has set Himself as an example of coming to this world yet would not live in of this world. He prays for our sanctification. It means to set apart as holy or set apart for Gods intended purpose. That takes place through the word of God, as truth read, heard, understood and applied brings us sanctification.

Christ was the great Missionary, the Messiah, sent out into the world to accomplish the Fathers will and purpose. As the Father send Him, so He sends us into the world as his witnesses.

Prayer: Lord, You are praying for me. I will not stay isolated away from the world but be in this world. I am protected from the evil one so that I can fulfil the purpose in which You send me. Grant that I may be here to bear Your testimony, Be your witness and be faithful to the end.
