THE LIFTED ONE
Read John 12 The Triumphant Entry
Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself. This He said, signifying by what death He would die. (John 12:31-33 NKJV)
Jesus entered Jerusalem triumphantly for the Passover feast. He knew of His hour to complete His mission is near. Some Greek came looking for Him having heard of Him. He spoke of His imminent death. Then came a voice from heaven affirming what Jesus had said of His death. Jesus mentioned it was for them to note the judgment has come upon this world as the evil one is cast out.
This world involves both the political and religious system at the instigation of the devil put Christ be crucified. By so doing the world has judged itself. It speaks of the decisive blow to two great enemies. Colossians 2:14-15 vividly described the defeat of Satan at the cross: having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
Christ been lifted up describes both Jesus crucifixion And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:1415) and His ascension (Acts 2:33). His suffering and exaltation. It has an allusion to the lifting up of the serpent in the wilderness (Numbers 21:1-35). As it was lifted up those who were beaten by the snakes were saved and healed. But those who didnt perished. The people were saved not by doing anything, but by simply looking to the bronze serpent. Look to Me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. (Isaiah 45:22)
Through His death; He secured salvation of the multitude. There is no exclusion of any class or creature from the mercy of God in Christ Jesus. The drawing is to the Person, Himself as the crucified one.
It is the Lord who draw those who believed to Himself. Not us for we are just the channels. It will be foolish this to impress others of ourselves. Should people look in us to provide and help will just be disappointed.
Prayer: Lord You alone be lifted up in my life, ministry and church. Others may see You and be drawn towards You.
