HIS MISSION OUR MISSION
Read Luke 4 Beginning of Jesus Galilean Ministry
"The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD. (Luke 4:18-19 NKJV)
After been tempted by the evil one in the wilderness Jesus left triumphantly and entered the region of Galilee. He went into the synagogue in Nazareth as His custom was. He stood up to read Isaiah 61:1-2. People were astonished at His preaching.
The name Christ is the Anointed One. At baptism, the Spirit descended upon Him. God has anointed Jesus without measure when He was on earth. He was totally relying upon God and the Holy Spirit to fulfil God's Mission. He is here to heal the fivefold damage that sin brings.
He preached to those who are poor in spirit. Sin impoverishes. He brings good news of hope and joy. It uplifts and not condemn. His ministry was to heal the broken hearted. These are the wounded, jilted, the despairs and couldn't love others to experience the joy in life.
He sets free those in spiritual bondage. Sin makes people captive and enslaves them, and the Messiah has come to set them free. It is also addictions of any vices that will destroy the mind, body and soul. The coming of the Lord sends the promise of the Holy Spirit who would come and dwell to empower us breaking the bondages.
He came to open the spiritual as well as the physically sights to blinds who believed. Jesus came to free those who were oppressed of the devil. Messiah has come to heal our spiritual and moral blindness. He conquered them in totality at Calvary.
He came to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD. While so doing He showed the outcome as the evidences of the year of God's favour for the readiness of the harvest.
Prayer: Lord that I may preach and serve with Your anointing for the result You want to bring about. Set my focus in living in the Spirit not the fresh and these ministries will follow as with us.
