Read Habakkuk 3 The Pleasure of the Prophet

Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength; He will make my feet like deers feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills. To the Chief Musician. With my stringed instruments.

(Habakkuk 3:17-19 NKJV)

After waiting upon God with questions Habakkuk was revived. He concluded with praise regardless of the circumstances (1) the fig tree, which was a considerable part of their provision to live upon may not blossom (2) the vine yields no fruit (3) their labour on the olive is in vain (4) no harvest from the field (5) the flock of sheep, be cut off, either by wolf, murrain, or by the Babylonians. (6) the cattle kept in the stall for labour, or for feeding died of diseases or by the hand of man, drove off by the enemy, or killed for their use; so that the folds were empty of them, and none to gather into them.

Though all outward means of support should fail; the prophet will rejoice in the Lord as his salvation. He renews his zeal by faith that all shall end in blessing for him and those who trust in the Lord.

Like the mountain goats which could leap about in narrow places up high on the hill without falling and fear; God causes his feet leap like them. The prophet, who began his prayer with fear and trembling, concludes it with joy and triumph, for prayer is heart's ease to a gracious soul.

We shall be swift for our spiritual race. As we run the way of His commands; we outrun our troubles.

Prayer: Lord I rejoice in You. My joy is not based on circumstances of the present but You and the plan You have ultimately for all who know and trust You. You are in control and know everything that happened is meant to work out for our eternal salvation.
