Read Nahum 1 Judgement Declared

The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him. (Nahum 1:7 NKJV)

Here for Gods people as they were constantly under stress of the siege of the Assyrians. As Nahum means comfort and in the midst of such crisis yet God comforts His people. He is in the midst of their trouble. There are 12 verses in this short book yet 10 of these acknowledge God! The prophet points to who the LORD is in three aspects.

The LORD is good. What He created is good. His goodness is magnified in the redemption plan. His goodness leads us to repentance. He never breaks His promises even to the unfaithful Israel to the fulfilment of the prophecies. There is no ill will, impurity but absolute kindness in God. in everything He does even in discipline as a father does because of love for his child. There is no other prerogative than good. Considering the blessings, we are being lavished.

The LORD is the Stronghold in the day of trouble. Though there will be days of trouble because this is a fallen world and Satan seeks to destroy; yet God is still the place of refuge like a castle for us. A place of security. Like a security blanket. We have peace when we go through trouble. His goodness is seen in the day of trouble as it is to us personally.

The LORD knows those who trust in Him. Trust means to take shelter in Him. Through this loving communion, tender care we are known to God. Not those who are perfect, with great knowledge and wealth and in good deeds but who trust in Him. Faith is the condition for God acknowledge faith.

Prayer: Lord You are a good and there is none like You. I take refuge in You in the midst of trouble. I can fully trust You are working out all things for my good even if it appears otherwise in the natural.
