THE INCOMPARABLE GOD
Read Micah 7 The Restoration of Israel
Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy. He will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea. (Micah 7:18-19 NKJV)
The name Micah, means Who is a God like You, He considered the 50 years of proclaiming Gods judgement and the countless times of Gods forgiveness. This rhetorical question, Who is a God like You simply implies who can ever be so forgiving certainly, no one.
God is Incomparable because of His unfailing and unchanging love. In Hebrew word, hesed, which speaks of the Father's unbreakable covenant love. God is Incomparable because of His redeeming power (v. 19), God is Incomparable because of His never-ending faithfulness (v. 20). He would not allow the remnant to be destroyed. God may for a time lay his own people under the tokens of his displeasure, yet he will not retain his anger for ever, but though he cause grief he will have compassion.
God extends us mercy through His Son, Jesus Christ. He dwelt with sin in Christ. His love is demonstrated through His Son. God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
God will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. (Psalm 103:12) For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. (Jeremiah 31:34)
Micah concludes the book by reminding us of the faithful covenant-keeping God. You will show faithfulness to Jacob and steadfast love to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old. (Micah 7:20)
Prayer: Lord You have allowed me to experience Your grace and mercy of forgiveness. Theres non like You.
