The message of the Book is The Pardoning God The meaning of Micahs name is expressed in the key verse, who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity sins into the depth of the sea. (Micah 7:18-19)

Micah was a simple countryman, born of obscure parentage and recognized as one of the peasant classes. He began a little later than his contemporaries, Isaiah and Hosea (Isaiah 1:1; Hosea 1:1), and Amos. He prophesied during the days of Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah (Micah 1:1) His message was similar to the themes of his fellow prophets.

There are three main sections:

Chapter 1 to 3 Prediction of Judgment.

God coming like as at Mt. Sinai but this time to judge His people. He named the cities and towns. He accuses leaders of their corruption and their punishment. They idolatry, injustice, immorality. They became wealthy through their stealing and greed. However, God will shepherd the remnant; he concludes positively of their restoration and the coming Christ.

Chapter 4 to 5 the Prediction of Restoration.

The warning of disaster from foreign countries. However, he spoke the similar outcome of restoration. and restore them in the New Jerusalem, rebuilt the temple and fill with His presence. Gods purpose to make Israel the meeting place of heaven and earth will happen. A new Messianic King who is to be born in Bethlehem, He will rule over Jerusalem and in this Kingdom the faithful remnant of Gods people will become the blessing to the nations and God will bring His final justice and remove evil from the world.

Chapter 6 to 7 Plea for Repentance and promise of final salvation.

Israel personified as a suffering, defeated individual. He is watching for Gods mercy and asked for forgiveness. Based on Gods character of faithfulness and covenant keeping God.
