Read Jonah 3 Jonah Preaching,

Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it. (Jonah 3:10 NKJV)

God called Jonah to Nineveh and preach His coming judgment. Jonah was contemptuous of Nineveh been saved. He fled but God deported him to His will. I am often reminded of the early years of my life, I was ambitious to pursue law and God deported me to His will to accept the call into the ministry.

He preached that Nineveh shall be overthrown in 40 days. With such personal encounter he had and conviction of the call; he preached under divine compulsion.

God saw their response to His word. The people from the greatest to the least of them believed. Though they were not Jews and enemies of Israel yet they received the prophetic message preached. They turned from their evil. They proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth. They cried to God and turned from their evil ways. Thats revival.

God relented. He withheld His judgment that he had planned for them. God turned from his fierce angerdecides to spare these Ninevites. It doesn't mean He changed His word. They received mercy according to His character. He acted in accordance to His word if they repent just as He would speak through Jeremiah, The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it, if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. (Jeremiah

Prayer: Lord how merciful You are. Even though on occasion I have not taken heed to Your calling. You have drawn me to Yourself and led me to place of repentance. As You have been merciful to me, may I see so great is Your love to all mankind that I will minister to whomever You have led me to do so.
