Read Daniel 6 God Delivers Daniel in the Lions Den

I (King Darius) make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. For He is the living God, And steadfast forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, And His dominion shall endure to the end. He delivers and rescues, And He works signs and wonders In heaven and on earth, Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions. (Daniel 6:26-27 NKJV)

The court officials conspired against Daniels devotion towards God. They got the king to make a decree forbidding any man to ask anything of any God for the space of a month. Daniel would not compromise his commitment to God in praying regularly. He was thus thrown into the lions' den. God intervened and Daniel was unscarred. This amazed the king and came to conviction the God of Daniel is a living God.

King Darius now makes some amends for the dishonour he had done both to God and Daniel. He wants now to honour God. He decrees that in every province they are required to serve with fear and trembling, and reverence and adore the God that Daniel served and worshipped.

King Darius could confess, (1) He is the living God, (2) Both He is steadfast forever. He cannot be shaken. He remains faithful to His character and counsel. (3) His Kingdom cannot be destroyed by any external force. (4) His rule, authority is an everlasting one. reigns as an absolute sovereign. His government is incontestable (5) He works signs and wonders, both in heaven and on earth.

He delivers his faithful servants from trouble as He did for the three companions of Daniel from the fiery furnace, and now Daniel himself from the lions' den testifies the greatness of God.

Prayer: Lord You have the final say. Your Kingdom is everlasting and You deliver those who are Yours when the enemy seeks to oppose. I pray I will be a living testimony of Your deliverance and preservation in the danger faced for Your glory.
