Daniel was speaking about the worldwide Antichrist prophetically in two facets. First that was coming soon refers to the Antiochus who deceived many of the Jews and committed sacrileges in their temple and the other during the tribulation period. Yet in the midst of these struggles there will be a group of the strong who will not compromise.

What make them strong with their conviction is their knowledge of God. Thus, we noted three things about them, first, they would not be corrupted with flattery, they are strong and do great exploits.
