GOD DESIRES TO REVEAL
Read Jeremiah 33 Promises from the Prison
"Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. (Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV)
This word came to Jeremiah while he was in prison (:1). No solid walls, locks and other barriers can shut God out from Jeremiah. It was the final siege of the Babylonians in the last years of King Zedekiahs reign yet there is the call of God to pray.
God spoke of hope as the One who has made and formed all things (;2). He has all the power at His disposal to make things right again, in answer to prayers. This must have had special meaning to the Jeremiah and other godly Jews. God is the One who had made them into a nation also means that He is able to bring them back from Captivity and restore their homeland to them.
What is happening is that God is showing Jeremiah that judgment must come first and redemption second. God cannot restore them until He has first dealt with their sins. He does listen to prayer when they repent of their sins.
God will show great and mighty (hidden) things, which they do not know until is revealed; Thus, in verse 6, BEHOLD. The promise has finally arrived! God now begins to do the work of great and mighty things all the way down to verse 17. We read about healing, abundance of peace and truth, rebuilding, pardoning sin, joy, praises, goodness, prosperity, and mercy. The greatest one of them all is found in verses 15-16. He describes the coming of the Lord Jesus, giving him the title, The Branch. The Branch would come from Davids lineage to execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. This is a reference to the second coming of Christ based on the description of his mighty acts.
While having the end in mind of ultimate triumph and joy we can live toward it in constant prayer for Gods empowerment to live right in the midst of challenges. Holding to Jesus promised, Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7)
Prayer: Lord, You in difficulty, I can call upon You. You are God who listen and delight to hear me. You have already known my needs yet longing for my fellowship. I shall see the great and mighty things You will show me through intercession.
