Read Jeremiah 3 The prophets plea for Repentance

And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. (Jeremiah 3:15 NKJV)

How often and what do I pray for my pastor(s)? He is Gods gift to the church, And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; (Ephesians 4:11-13).

Jeremiah speaks to Israel though she is already taken captive by the Assyrian and to Judah which is about to be besieged by Babylon. In such situation God would re-gather and reunite them. After the blessing of restoration and repatriation, God promised the blessing of good and godly spiritual leadership, giving an instructive description of what leaders among Gods people should be.

God will give them shepherds according to His heart. God Himself will give because of His love for His people. God has not and will never forget Israel even in their rebellious stage. It is not by human ambition or anyone presume to the call. Shepherds according to God's heart in the way they serve and lead Gods people. They love what God loves. They are personally involved in the life of the flock. They look after the welfare of his flock. They minister according to the heart of God and the character of Gods heart.

Shepherds who feed them with knowledge and understanding of the whole counsel of God. Not humans philosophy and ideas instead of the revelation knowledge of God Himself, not messages that tickle the ears instead of that which nourishes the inner man.

This message of salvation prophetically focusing on Christ, the Good Shepherd extends to the Gentiles as well. I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. (John 10:14-15)

Prayer: Lord You are the Good Shepherd and set us as Your under shepherd. You are our Role Model as One who is after God's heart. We are in total dependence upon You to point them to You with knowledge and understanding.
