Read Jeremiah 1 Call of Jeremiah

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations. (Jeremiah 1:5 NKJV)

I never knew what I would become only God knows. I can only say, I am fulfilling what God has called me and I find purpose in life that enjoys a right relationship with God in doing His will regardless of the challenges I face. Jeremiah has that knowledge, but are you?

The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah revealed to him that he had been chosen by God as his spokesman even before birth. Four active verbs fittingly describe Gods part in the process formed, knew, sanctified, and ordained. , consecrated, and appointed.

God formed Jeremiah. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skilfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. (Psalms 139:15-16)

The Creator has full knowledge of His creation thus He has over Jeremiah. His knowledge is accompanied with affection for those who are His.

God sanctifies as setting Jeremiah apart as been consecrated to the service of the Lord. Paul says of himself that God had separated him from his mother's womb to be an apostle, But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mothers womb and called me through His grace, (Galatians 1:15)

God appointed him as a prophet to the nations and over the kingdoms and his commission was to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant (v. 10).

When God calls us; He will sanctify us by the blood of Christ and His Spirit, Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. (Hebrews 13:12) But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, (II Thessalonians 2:13)

Prayer: Lord where I am is purely grace. You sustain and empower me to response positively in obedience and finishing well in the way You have designed, sanctified and ordained me for the purpose of which I was born.
