ARISE AND SHINE
Read Isaiah 60 Glory of Israel
Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. (Isaiah 60:1 NKJV)
This prophesy was given in one of the darkest moments in Jewish history. They were in captivity in Babylon. In the midst of it, Israel was to arise and shine for their salvation will soon come. Their return to their homeland would bring them the gladness, joy and honour.
More than the return was the prophecy of Christ coming. They would know the Lord and to rejoice in Him as their Messiah. With the light they first received; they can then only shine. The gentiles nations will come to the light even kings.
Christ is the Light and darkness comprehend it not. The Light has come for us. We are enlightened by it, reflecting this light. As children of light in the world; we arise out of our despondency. Cloth ourselves with the armour of God.
When Christ arose as the sun of righteousness, and in Him the day-spring from on high visited us, then the glory of the Lord is seen upon us, the glory as of the first-begotten of the Father. We arise as we witness for the Lord. We are the lights of the world thus we shine.
God's glory is seen upon us. It brings us honour, (Matthew 5:16; Philippians 2:15) When God appears to us, and we have the comfort of His favour; then the glory of the Lord rises upon us as the morning light. His glory is seen upon Israel in the pillar of cloud and fire.
Prayer: Lord I arise and shine because I am bearer of Your Light. As I shine Your glory be made evidence.
